Nature, name and objectives.

 

The Andalusian Interuniversity Institute for Educational Research is an Interuniversity Research Institute that will be governed by the provisions of the Organic Law of Andalusia 6/2001, December, for Universities; Organic Law 4/2007, April 12, 2007, which amends the aforementioned Law; Andalusian University Law 15/2003, December 22, the Andalusian Public University Statutes and these Operating Guidelines. In the following sections the Andalusian Interuniversity Institute for Educational Research (IEdu) will be referred to as IEdu.

 

The objectives of the IEdu include organizing and developing research activities in all fields and aspects of Education and its applications, promoting collaboration between Andalusian Universities, qualitatively and quantitatively stimulating such research, supporting the different Education Research Groups in Andalusia, particularly the Universities of Seville and Granada, and promoting collaboration between them and with other national and international research groups.

 

Locations and functions.

The IEdu is structured in two sites at the Universities of Granada and Seville.

 

On the purpose and functions of the IEdu.

IEdu, articulated as an Andalusian Interuniversity Institute, aims to develop scientific and applied research in the field of education, and specialized instruction in basic and interdisciplinary aspects of education. To this end, the IEdu will systematically:

 

(i) Promote and stimulate quality scientific research, as well as the continuous and effective interaction and coordination among all its members,

(ii) Improve the infrastructures necessary for the achievement of its purposes, attracting new resources and optimizing the use of available ones, and

(iii) Increase the visibility of its researchers and their activities, enhancing their work and their international projection.

 

Strategic objectives of the IEdu.

 

IEdu's basic strategic objectives are as follows:

 

a. To promote research excellence by increasing the scientific, cultural and educational heritage of Andalusia.

b. To support the quality training of researchers. In this sense, emphasis will be placed on employability, contributing to improve the labor market in Andalusia through this excellence training.

c. To promote equal opportunities, contributing to the same objective within the Andalusian Knowledge System.

d. To promote internationalization through the creation of networks with other national and international centers, with emphasis on European research actions and the Ibero-American space. This will contribute to increase the international presence and competitiveness of Andalusian research. It will also allow the generation of higher quality scientific results that are useful to society and in particular to the productive sectors.

e. To encourage interdisciplinarity, that is, the transfer of knowledge and scientific methods beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. Support and encourage work on new research topics in emerging areas with future potential in the advancement of knowledge. To favor a more dynamic scientific activity, increasing, consolidating and interconnecting research groups.

f. To raise private and public funds to finance its activities, as well as its participation in regional, national and international framework projects. Effectively manage these resources, adapting them to the needs of the research groups in a flexible and streamlined manner.

g. Efficiently acquiring and managing scientific infrastructure tailored to the needs of researchers.

h. To collaborate with Public Administrations and contribute to scientific progress through the national and international dissemination of the knowledge generated and the transfer of research results to society and especially to the Andalusian framework.

i. Provide technical advice to companies and public and private organizations, when requested.
